Kabir Kumar is a Senior Director with Walmart’s Global Culture, Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (CDEI) team under Global People. He leads Walmart’s Racial Equity Shared Value Networks focused on Criminal Justice, Education, Finance and Health, and oversees CDEI initiatives in Global Technology, Governance, People, Corporate Affairs and Finance segments.  

Focused on doing good at scale, Kumar applies a shared value, systems change approach to create greater societal benefit for all stakeholders. In his previous role at Walmart.org, Kumar led 20+ philanthropic initiatives and innovations representing $100M+ in annual giving for the company through philanthropic programs like disaster response, employee and customer giving, cause marketing, government affairs giving, employee assistance funds, scholarships and more. Kumar has also created and led the first philanthropic agile team at Walmart, launching several charitable business integrated products, including Walmart’s charitable registry, charitable roundup and more. 

Prior to joining Walmart, Kumar worked across the US, London and India on issues including community building, conflict resolution, literacy, rural development, education and philanthropic advising. Kumar worked with the Silicon Valley Community Foundation, where he helped raise more than $2.2 billion and supported high-net worth individuals and more than 100 corporations in creating their philanthropic strategies. He also serves on the Board of Interfaith Youth Core, the largest US based Interfaith nonprofit, headquartered in Chicago. Kumar has a bachelor’s degree from Brandeis University and a master’s degree in Sustainable International Development from Brandeis’ Heller School of Social Policy and Management.
