LAUREN MIURA – STRATEGIST & PRACTICE LEADER, FUNDRAISING COMMUNICATIONS

Lauren Miura is a fundraising communications professional specializing in the development of tools and messaging to secure major gifts and corporate partnerships. She works closely with clients to create their unique value propositions and case statements that form the basis for all fundraising requests. Additionally, she supports clients by developing sales and fundraising materials such as concept papers, presentations, proposals and other collateral. Miura is also active with Social Capital’s training practice, which includes how-to workshops helping nonprofits customize case statements and fundraising materials, creating campaign tools and templates, and sharing best practices in strategic philanthropy. Miura’s clients have included the American Red Cross, Make-A-Wish Foundation International, National Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASA) Association, StoryCorps, Special Olympics International, and United Way of America.

Before coming to Social Capital, Miura was a senior writer at The Nature Conservancy. There, she served as a lead editor and project manager for the organization’s annual report, helped create messaging and materials for a multibillion dollar campaign, and played a major role in revamping and executing the organization’s internal communications. Miura has also worked as a reporter on Capitol Hill covering energy and environmental policy for Greenwire and E&E Daily. She earned her B.A. in journalism and mass communication at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and is pursuing a masters degree in public affairs with a nonprofit administration specialization at the City University of New York-Baruch College. She is based in New York City.
