MARILYN ANN JACKSON

Vice President for Marketing and Communications
United Way of Metro Chicago

Marilyn Jackson is a strategic nonprofit executive who is a passionate advocate for children & families, museums & culture and education. She is currently the Vice President for Marketing and Communications for United Way of Metro Chicago where she works collaboratively with the CEO to establish a vision for resource development and community impact. Marilyn is responsible for the marketing and communications strategy including brand positioning and visibility, public relations, internal communications and stakeholder messaging.

Prior to joining United Way in 2016, Marilyn served as the Vice President of Marketing and Audience Strategy for the Chicago Architecture Foundation (CAF) for six years. In her role she guided the CAF brand and positioned CAF as one of Chicago’s leading cultural organizations responsible for marketing strategy, media relations, membership, audience research and digital initiatives.

Marilyn also served for six years as the Director of Marketing at the Museum of Science and Industry in Chicago where she oversaw the development and execution of the Museum’s complete rebranding. Under her leadership the marketing department created and executed award-winning traveling exhibition marketing campaigns which set national attendance records.

Marilyn earned her MBA from Northwestern University’s Kellogg School of Management and her Bachelor of Science in Biology and Society from Cornell University. Born in Jamaica and raised in Brooklyn, Marilyn currently calls Chicago home.
